The robbers allegedly accosted the officials as they left their headquarters to transport about 13 money bags to a Standard Chartered ATM in Nairobi West.
Part of the reported stolen cash was contained in the money bags that the G4S officials were transporting to the bank and the rest was taken from the ATM.
The thieves masqueraded as administration officers who are normally assigned to escort the cash-in-transit vehicles.
Reports indicate that they were three men who escorted the cash from the G4S headquarters on Witu Road, South B in two separate cars.
Upon reaching the ATM, they waited until the G4S officials had requested the password to unlock the ATM before they drew guns and ordered the officials to hand over all the money.
After the heist, they allegedly bundled the money into a Toyota Noah vehicle and made their escape after confiscating their victims' phones.
