According to reports, Speaker Joseph Kaberia’s bodyguard was found shot at a house in Kamiti Corner in Nairobi.
A report by Standard said that the bodyguard, Constable Samuel Munga was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at Ruaraka Neema Hospital in Kasarani.
The Speaker’s driver Andrew Nabea who is also a licensed gun holder had a gunshot wound on his left leg.
Nabea’s sister Sarah Karambu said she received a call from her brother at about 3 am who informed her that he wanted to spend the night at her place and when she was opening the gate, she heard gunshots from outside and ran back to the house.
Neighbours called the police who arrived at the scene a few minutes later and found the driver lying next to the lifeless body of Munga with a wound in the leg.
Confirming the incident, Nairobi Police boss Philip Ndolo said the two were rushed to hospital where the bodyguard succumbed to injuries.
Police established that Munga’s pistol had 15 bullets indicating he did not fire or use his gun while Nabea’s gun had three bullets left. Spent cartridges from Nabea’s gun were also recovered at the scene.
Police said they also recovered the driver’s civilian firearm certificate and four Ceska magazines.
