"We have given Nairobi many gifts. And we are working to significantly give her more. So I would request that you continue with many of crucial projects that we had started," Kidero told Sonko, amid cheers from a mammoth crowd at Uhuru Park.
Mr Kidero, however, cautioned Mr Sonko against the need to have periodical demonstrations, arguing that the county government has a sound legislative system to resolve problems that would proof challenging to his administration.
Boasting of uniting the people of Nairobi beyond tribal lines, Mr Kidero also called out on Sonko to embark on an urban regeneration of a crucial infrastructure within the city.
"The specific one I plead with you, the Pangani and Ford-Jesus roads and other projects that we may have started to work on in the city," Kidero said.
Kidero has added that the journey in leading the largest county and has not been a walk in the park, urging Mr Sonko to remain firm and collaborate with him, whenever necessary to develop the city. He has hinted that the main challenge is financial shortfalls.
“I hope the Sh73 billion will be paid in your administration from the Central government. It may be easy to criticise from outside,” Kidero said.
Earlier, speaking to the press, Mr Kidero had vowed to go to court to challenge the election of Mr Sonko as the governor crying foul of the just concluded elections. His passing on the mantle to Mr Sonko to lead the county is a technical conceding.
Mr Sonko was sworn in by the High Court Judge David Majanja.
