Sonko dramatically chased from polling station

The youth forced the security details of the governor to whisk him out.

Mr Sonko who had gone to witness the tallying of votes was forced to flee after dozens of youth stormed in the station demanding that the IEBC officials shut the station.

The Governor's security detail whisked Mr Sonko from the tallying centre after the assumably Nasa supporters threatened to beat the flamboyant governor.

Chanting Nasa slogans, the youth later turned their guns to the IEBC officials and ordered them to stop the tallying process.

The ugly confrontation came amid fears following the shooting and killing of two people in Mavoko when Wiper party supporters were in a push and pull with the police. Unconfirmed reports indicated that police were forced to fire live bullets to disperse the crowd and in some instances, lobbed teargas canters.

Later, the rowdy youth allegedly barricaded several roads in the town including Machakos - Makueni, Machakos - Kitui and lit bonfires near Machakos Level Five Hospital.

The governor has not commented on the matter since Thursday.
