Former Chief of Staff in Deputy President William Ruto’s office, Marianne Kitany, on Wednesday continued with her testimony in the messy divorce case against Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.
Linturi told me he had divorced his 3 wives – Kitany spills more beans
Kitany picked up from her Tuesday testimony where she told the court how she went on a romantic escapade with Linturi at a time the legislator was supposed to be tabling a motion of no confidence against then Devolution CS Anne Waiguru.
Shortly after returning from Naivasha, the former Ruto aide said Linturi moved into her Kileleshwa house as he had rent arrears.
“I came to learn later that he had rent arrears and I assisted by paying…he asked for some money to pay rent and much later I got to see letters from the landlord. I gave him Ksh. 200,000,” she testified.
She added that the two would later agree to take their children on a two-week vacation to Zanzibar which was aimed at strengthening the bond between them as they were preparing to live as a couple.
All along, Kitany said Linturi told him he was single and ready to settle with her after having divorce three wives - Susan Gacheri Kimani, Mercy Kaimenyi and Hellen Mumbi Kariuki.
“I came in as the fourth wife” she said.
In the following year, 2015, the two sent all their children to Australia where they wanted them to study together. Kitany said she solely paid for the Sh11 million school fees.
She also testified that she had catered for the holiday to Zanzibar and a second one to Mauritius in December of 2015 which cost Sh800,000.
The two were to later get married in 2016 in a traditional ceremony in Linturi’s Meru home.
The hearing is ongoing.
