"Following the student's unrest in the University's, Main Campus, leading to gross misconduct, destruction of property, harassment and injury of University officers...the University Senate has decided to indefinitely suspend academic programmes at Main Campus with immediate effect.

"All students at Main Campus are, therefore, directed to vacate the hostels and University premises by noon today Friday 11th, October 2019," the notice signed by DVC Prof. I. N. Kimengi read in part.

Moi University troubles

Protests at the university begun early on Friday morning, the students are opposing various university policies regarding exam fees, fee payment deadlines and resignation of some university officials.

Students leaders had asked the student body to boycott classes as the day begun.

The unrest at Moi University comes barely a week after Kenyatta University was also closed indefinitely.

KU students had held protests for two days over the increment of graduation fees from Sh3,500 to Sh6,000 without proper consultations.
