Motorists advised to use Syokimau service lane after oil tanker accident near JKIA - KeNHA

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued an alert for all motorists using Mombasa Road following a serious accident on Tuesday morning.

The alert advised the motorists to use the Syokimau service lane after traffic remained clogged up a few metres passed the Jome Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

According to the brief from KeNHA, the accident involved an oil tanker.

"KeNHA would like to issue a traffic advisory to all motorists plying along the Nairobi - Mombasa highway (A8) to exercise caution as they approach the section near the SGR terminus entrance after JKIA.

"Heavy traffic has been caused by an accident involving an oil tanker and due to this motorists are being diverted to the Syokimau service lane as police attend to the scene of the accident," the alert directed.

Nairobi-Nakuru Highway 20-hour traffic jam

Over the weekend, a major traffic snarl up along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway that left motorists stranded for over 20 hours.

The delay was attributed to repair works being carried out along the major highway.
