Mombasa women vow to strip should EACC proceed with cheating claims investigations touching on Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko

Several women took to the streets to protest what they termed as the harassment of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

The women demanded for an immediate stop to all on-going investigations touching on the governor and vowed to strip naked should EACC fail to comply with their demands.

The women said that Sonko was being humiliated because he was just a young man from the coast. One of the women who identified herself as Mildred Odinga said they did not understand why the Sonko was being harassed and frustrated by the Government just three years in his serving.

“Twashangaa kwanini hata hajamaliza miaka mitatu, kwenye kiti cha gavana lakini mheshimiwa sonko amekua akipelekewa mbio na hatujui kinachofanya mpaka yeye apelekwe mbio ni kitu gani. Sisi kama kina mama tunaskia uchungu sana kama mnataka sisi tuvue nguo ndio tujue wamama wote wavue nguo watembee uchi ndio mjue wamama wamechoka kuona kijana wao yuanateseka” said Mildred Odinga

She pleaded people to stop harassing Sonko and let him do his work, since he was not only serving Nairobi residents but the whole country and everyone was depending on him.

She insisted that there wasn’t a need for him to be accused of baseless accusations

Early this week Sonko was questioned by EACC over cheating claims regarding the self-declaration forms he submitted in 2017 while vying for governorship. His appearance at Integrity Centre was punctuated by confrontations between police and his supporters.
