Unknown details emerge of Nairobi’s most wanted criminal

Mwanii was known as the husband to Nairobi’s prettiest thug…

Mwanii’s prolific career as Nairobi’s most dreaded thug came to an abrupt end after he was gunned down by police after going out for a smoke in Witeithie where he and his gang were ambushed and two Gaza members were killed while six others managed to escape.

Here are a few unknown facts about Mwanii that have emerged:

1. He was very young

Despite his reputation that struck fear into the hearts of many, Mwanii was barely 23 years old when he ascended to power as the de facto leader of  the dreaded Gaza Gang that draws its inspiration from Vybz Cartel. At the time of his death, Mwanii was 23 years old.

2. He was overprotective

When it came with to his wife Clea, he was very protective the extent that he killed people who tried to strike a friendship with her

“Mwaniki at one point killed two colleagues for befriending his wife Claire, who has since been killed.” A police officer informed the Capital FM News investigative team.

3. He was very devious

He managed to be a leader of the most dreaded gang through being cunning and cold-hearted in the way he executed his activities. He had loyal soldiers on the ground who informed him of any plots by the police or rival gangs and was always wary of any strange activities around him. When he was killed, he had gone out to smoke some weed but even then he was alert. He quickly noted the detectives who had come into the compound and that’s when he and his accomplice pulled out their guns and started firing.

4. Background

He is originally from Kirinyaga County but grew up in Kayole, B3 area, went to Imara Primary School and joined Joy Valley Secondary School where he dropped out. A classmate described him as a calm and naughty student.

5. Life in crime

His life in crime begun as a mugger who would snatch handbags before he graduated to more dangerous crimes with his first ‘big’  job being to protect a rich man’s land with 10 other criminals.

6. Gaza Gang

He formed the Gaza gang together with other criminals after they sold off a section of the mogul’s land and they purchased guns which gave them that ammo power, making them the most dreaded gang in Nairobi.

7. He was ratted out by his gun supplier who doubled up as an informer

Nairobi detectives penetrated into the Gaza gang through a double agent who was the Gaza gang gun supplier and had just been released from prison.

The informer's betrayal  had a brutal ending after he was killed like an animal  when the remaining gang members realized that he had betrayed their gang leader. The informer was tortured before getting strangled to death “Though he was not seen during the raid, they must have known that he was the one who spied on them.” The police told Capital News.
