Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko forced to wait outside main dais at former President Mzee Daniel arap Moi's funeral at Kabarak

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko was on Wednesday forced to wait in the sidelines as organiszers sought to find a seat for him in the VIP dais at former President Mzee Daniel Arap Moi's funeral in Kabarak.

Security personnel were seen making consultations with the surprised Governor as he awkwardly stood and watched proceedings from outside the restricted area.

Governor Sonko later joined fellow VIP mourners and sat next to Bungoma Senator Amos Wako.

Tribute to Mzee Moi

The governor also attended the funeral service held at Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday and he joined his colleagues in government at the VIP dais.

The county government of Nairobi on Wednesday also published a tribute to the former President in the local dailies.

"His Excellency the Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, the Executive, all the staff and the entire leadership of the Nairobi County Government wish to express our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and nation at large following the passing on retired president, H.E. Daniel Toroitich arap Moi, the second President of the Republic of Kenya," the ad read in part.

Governor Sonko is currently fighting corruption charges in court, a matter that has seen him lose police protection.
