The firing was announced through a public notice published on the Standard which indicated that Makodingo, Finance CEC Pauline Kahiga, and Agriculture CEC Winfred Gathangu had ceased being employees of the county government of Nairobi.
All the three are appointees of the Governor although the public notice was signed under the Nairobi County Government.
Makodingo, a close friend of Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja, was the only high-profile government officer who publicly celebrated Sonko's surrender of county functions to the national government.
A day after Sonko surrendered his county functions, Makodingo said Sonko's reign had caused many city hall stuff a lot of suffering in the form of harassment from hired goons.
“I have suffered, I no longer have a social life. Goons recently raided my office and vowed to kick me out. They told me I was not needed here and threatened to cause bodily harm. I reported the matter to the police because, with the history of violence in this office, you cannot take things for granted,” Makodingo said last week.
Despite the transfer of powers to the national government, Sonko remains in charge as the transfer will become official transfer twenty one days after its signing date which was on Tuesday 25th February 2020.
