A section of Nairobi County Members of County Assembly (MCAs) on Thursday reported the alleged hacking of their county assembly accounts.
The MCAs were ferried by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko for a trip to the Coast on Wednesday ahead of the tabling of a motion to impeach the governor.
Angry lawmakers flocked to the Kwale Police Station reporting the alleged unauthorized access to their accounts at the county assembly chambers on Thursday.
They claimed that their phones had been off at the time of the alleged hacking, claiming that an unnamed entity accessed the accounts to make it seem like they were present within the chambers.
"I am in Kwale, my phone is off. No one should be able to log in for me," one of the MCAs stated.
The MCAs allied to Governor Sonko claimed to be more than 60 which would dent the required two-thirds majority required to impeach the governor.
