Since you have decided to reform and you have pleaded for forgiveness, we have forgiven you and I have passed the message to my security officers to do so in the spirit of the handshake. Hon Gikaria, come and shake my hand now,” Matiang’i said as the public cheered.

The development came three weeks after Gikaria was arrested during a protest in his constituency.

The MP reportedly assaulted a security officer which was followed by a thorough beating in the police cells.

I was assaulted by ten police officers to the extent that I became unconscious for four hours,” Gikaria later told the press after his release.
