Interior CS Fred Matiang’I on Wednesday reached to controversial Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria after the legislator reportedly apologized for his behavior and promised to reform.

Matiang’i made the announcement during a ceremony to open a new passport issuance centre in Nakuru.
The CS also invited the MP to shake his hand, saying it was made in the spirit of the handshake.
“As security people, we normally don’t have problems. Our work is tol tell you this is the way. If you choose to travel the wrong way, it’s our responsibility to bring you to the correct path”.
“Since you have decided to reform and you have pleaded for forgiveness, we have forgiven you and I have passed the message to my security officers to do so in the spirit of the handshake. Hon Gikaria, come and shake my hand now,” Matiang’i said as the public cheered.
The development came three weeks after Gikaria was arrested during a protest in his constituency.
The MP reportedly assaulted a security officer which was followed by a thorough beating in the police cells.
A photo of the MP lying in foetal position in the cold cell floor later went viral.
“I was assaulted by ten police officers to the extent that I became unconscious for four hours,” Gikaria later told the press after his release.
