He was hit by a car before being forcefully shoved intoit.

At 12.30pm earlier on today Frank Mirina is said to have allegedly been abducted by unkwown people just a few metres from the Kisii National Polytechnic main gate.

A witness who is hawker along those streets, one Rachel Kebwato, claims that a probox first rammed into the candidate and his boda boda rider before the abduction occurred.

The candidate was heading to the county tallying centre in Kisiii town when he was abducted by unknown people a few metres from the Kisii National Polytechnic main gate.

"I was selling my sweets and biscuits when I saw a ram into the motorbike carrying the candidate. As the bike slowed down and parked at the roadside, three men jumped out of the car and grabbed Mr Mirina, forcing him into the car."

Right after the vehicle sped off along the Kisii-Nyamira highway.

According to Nation, Frank's abduction was  in a bid to silence him as he wanted to speak out about electrol irregularities geared to favour some powerful politicians.

This was a conclusion made by one of the supporters, Amos Onsase who said, "We were dissatisfied with the electoral process in our ward and Mr Mirina was going to launch a formal complaint when he was accosted, " he conitnued, "We know some powerful forces were behind this cowardly act and wish to reiterate our resolve to ensure that our leader becomes duly elected as Kisii Central Ward MCA. "

He also informed the dailies that the candidate was unaccompanied at the time of the incident.

As a result of the abduction, the candidate's supporters were up in arms demonstrating in the streets of Kisii town terming the kidnapping as "an attempt to rig the election in favour of some powerful individuals".

This is because the tallying of votes for the county assembly representative seat is still going on  but Mr Mirina at the time of his disappearance was at position two.

The County Police Commander, Abdi Hassan confirmed the incident, saying police has opened investigations in order to find the suspects and close the case as soon as possible. He said, "We are investigating the circumstances under which this incident occurred and will take legal action against all found culpable. It is too early for us to speculate on the identity or motive of the suspects behind the incident. "
