Speaking during a press conference on Monday, Mr Karapo issued a stern warning to admins who have been using the social media platform to fan violence.

"Tell administrators of WhatsApp groups fanning hate speech, we are coming for them," Mr Kaparo said.

The NCIC boss mentioned that the admins were responsible for hate messages spread on the groups.

At the same time, Communications Authority Director Francis Wangusi noted that they will closely monitor telecommunications, social media, other media ahead of the August 8 General Election.

Mr Wangusi highlighted that Internet will not be shut down during the much-awaited poll.

He however, insisted websites publishing fake news will be brought down.
