Senior Magistrate Pauline Omungala Chesang and two police officers were arrested on Sunday and spent the night at the Athi River police station.
Ms Chesang had been summoned by police over her husband's murder and later police detained her.
Investigations
Detectives stated that police will seek orders to continue detaining them as investigations continue.
Mr Robert Chesang was shot dead in his house at Moke Gardens in broad daylight by gunmen who managed to escape.
When police were informed of the shooting they arrived at his home only to find the doors locked.
An officer stated that police jumped into the compound and when they peeped through the door they saw Mr Chesang's body lying in a pool of blood.
Brutal killing
Chesang is said to have been alone in the house during the time of the incident.
Police said they recovered seven spent cartridges of an AK47 rifle at the scene of the murder.
Detectives involved in the investigation noted that it was rare to find thieves using the kind of weapons they recovered and hinted at Mr Chesang's death being an assassination by well-trained operatives.
The team that visited the scene said the deceased was most likely tortured and dragged from his bedroom before he was killed in cold blood.
