Prominent CEO dies, two months after violent kidnap

Nzoia Acting Managing Director Michael Kulundu on Thursday died two months after being kidnapped.

His passing was confirmed by family members who did not disclose the cause of death.

Mr Kulundu had been rushed to hospital after he was found unconscious in a trench after being kidnapped from Salmond Restaurant situated along the Kanduyi-Sikata highway.

Kulundu's uncle Lambert Manda pointed out that the family is yet to receive feedback from the police over investigations into the incident.

"So far, there is no report released by the police on their investigations," explained Manda.

Reports had indicated that the deceased had been tortured and sustained injuries then left him for dead.

The acting sugar boss had been taken to Bungoma West private hospital in Kanduyi town, where he was treated.

A clinical administrator at the hospital, Dennis Sunday, stated that Kulundu had been transferred to Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu for further treatment.

"Kulundu aged 54, suffered multiple injuries including a scar on the head, a dislocated shoulder, and cuts on the right hand, chest and lower limbs.

"We conducted the CT scan and the X-Ray, he is in stable condition now but are transferring him to Aga Khan Kisumu for specialized treatment,” remarked Dennis.

Bungoma Police Commander Francis Sanga had revealed that the acting MD had been kidnapped by three unknown people armed with pistols.
