ODM party's savage response to Murkomen leaves netizens in stitches

ODM tears into Murkomen without mercy

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen

Orange Democratic Movement response to Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen left netizens in stitches after the party pointed out his flawed understanding of Constitution.

The letter signed by the party's Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, pointed out Senator Murkomen's mistake in his understanding of the ODM Constitution while he was defending MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Suleiman Dori (Msabweni).

"It is frankly embarrassing for your clients to claim to be champions of the values and aspirations of ODM when they have no basic knowledge of the Constitutive Document of the Party and is indicative of just how far they have drifted from the mother ship," the letter read in part.

Clarification

Senator Murkomen who is said to be the lawyer for Ms Jumwa and Mr Dori was also castigated by ODM for quoting sections of it's constitution which the party claimed do not exist.

"There exist no mechanisms of an appeal of the decisions of the Party's NEC to the NGC," the letter indicated.

"The sections quoted in your letter on appeals to the NGC do not exist in the ODM Party Constitution," it further noted.

ODM told Mr Murkomen to take time together with his clients Ms Jumwa and Mr Dori and familiarize with the Party's Constitution.

Fair hearing

"... familiarize yourselves with the Constitution and rules governing ODM to save yourselve from such ignorant misapprehensions in future," the letter pointed out.

The letter comes in the backdrop of an appeal by Ms Jumwa and Mr Dori through their lawyer Senator Murkomen who had argued the two were not given a fair hearing.

Jumwa and Dori have argued that they only appeared before one member of the committee – Fred Othuok – despite a provision in ODM’s constitution expressly providing for a five-member Disciplinary Committee appointed by the National Executive Committee.
