The official endorsement by ODM comes a week after the NASA Pentagon endorsed the former Prime Minister as their joint Opposition presidential candidate.
On hand to witness the colourful coronation of Raila were two of the other Pentagon members, Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi.
However, conspicuously missing at the event were Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula and Chama Cha Mashinani’s Isaac Ruto.
All principals invited
Earlier, ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen had told the media that all of the Nasa Pentagon members had been invited to attend Raila’s crowning by his party.
Wetangula is said to have gone to Uganda to attend a Senate function.
It is still not clear why Ruto skipped the function at Kasarani, however the two are said to have sent their apologies.
However, Raila insisted that all was well within Nasa and believes that they will head into the August elections as a united front and form the next government.
Raila reiterated that he will only rule for one term if elected calling himself the Bibilical “Joshua” who would lead Kenyans into the promised land and their after his work will have finished after which he will endorse his running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka as his successor.
Raila who is now 72 years, will face off against President Uhuru Kenyatta who is running for a second and final five-year term.
This will be the fourth time Raila runs for president; he vied for president in 1997, 2007 and 2013.
