The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Tuesday issued a statement after one of its officials accused it of neglecting NASA CEO Norman Magaya who has been battling a heart-related disease.

ODM denied accusations made the party’s deputy communications director, Seth Odongo, popularly known as Dikembe Disembe.

The ODM Party is aware that Nasa CEO Norman Magaya has been unwell. We continue to support him in every possible way and wish him quick recovery. Every request for support has been dealt with as and when received by the party.

The Orange party said it had stood by Magaya and would continue assisting him in private as the NASA boss’ CEO’s health matter was a personal matter.

To the best of our knowledge, no pending bill exists. The SG @edwinsifuna visited with him during his most recent hospitalization and confirmed the same with Mr Magaya. He would ordinarily contact the party if there were any such bills as he has always done.”

As a senior member of The ODM Party, we will go out of our way to safeguard Mr Magaya's welfare, but will do it silently, as we fulfill our mandate to the masses that we serve. These matters are extremely personal and we urge all persons to respect the privacy of Mr. Magaya,” ODM said in a statement.

ODM’s Executive Director Oduor Ong’wen, who was singled out by Odongo as the alleged stumbling block to Magaya’s welfare, also responded on his twitter account.

Ong’wen said Magaya continued to be on the party’s payroll, earning an amount equivalent to his salary as NASA CEO.

DD this is not true. Norman Magaya gets a monthly stipend from ODM National Secretariat. Equivalent to what he was earning as NASA CEO. It’s important to verify facts,” the ODM boss said on Twitter.
