On Wednesday, Ledama Sultan, who is a pilot by profession, was accused of committing the act on September 30, 2018, at South C estate in Lang’ata, Nairobi, charges he denied.
Denied bail
Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot denied him bail after agreeing with the prosecution the suspect could interfere with investigations as well as intimidate witnesses.
In opposing the suspect’s release, the prosecution told the court the accused committed the act in the girl’s bedroom, leaving the child traumatised, hence, should not be released.
The prosecution told the court that the accused person is a flight risk and might abscond court owing to the nature of his job.
The state also argued that Mr Sultan was a flight risk due to the fact that he also holds US citizenship.
