Police have recovered broken cash boxes believed to have been used in the G4S van money heist.

Officers also found 13 bags used in the robbery from Standard Chartered ATM and G4S Van at Thogoto Forest, Kikuyu.

A local of Kiambu County tipped off officers at Kikuyu Police Station after he allegedly stumbled on the boxes.

…police rushed to the scene and found the 13 boxes and bags from Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic Bank, KCB Bank, Barclays Bank,” the station said in the OB report.

Masquerading as police

At the scene, they also found a broken phone, a SIM card, a black G4S jacket.

The heist which has left many questions unanswered after three armed men dressed in replica Administration Police uniform stole the money without firing a shot.

At least ten people are in police custody as detectives work round the clock to unravel how the three unidentified men with the G4S team from their headquarters in Industrial Area to the bank – a distance of about four kilometres.

A G4S officer told police they thought the three were police officers assigned to escort the cash as they were aware of their operations.
