NASA issues bold new statement on 2022 elections

The statement by NASA now throws a new twist ahead of the 2022 elections

The alliance has now demanded for the reconstitution of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before the scheduled boundaries review starts.

The NASA principals threatened that failure to reconstitute the electoral commission will lead them to once again boycott the 2022 polls.

NASA kept away from the repeat polls of October 26 in protest saying that their demands which included reconstituting of the IEBC were not met.

IEBC list

Prior to the repeat polls, the NASA team released a list of senior officials at the IEBC who they want to be excluded in the repeat presidential elections.

Those in the list include CEO Ezra Chiloba, voter registration and electoral operations director Immaculate Kasait, head of legal department Praxedes Tororey, head of operations Betty Nyabuto and ICT director James Muhati and Manager Legal Department and Advisor to the CEO Moses Kipkogey.

The NASA leaders demanded their removal claiming they were responsible for bungling the August 8 polls and accused them of being partisan.

NASA co-principal, Musalia Mudavadi, argued that the planned boundaries review exercise was skewed towards perceived Jubilee strongholds.

The Amani National Congress (ANC) leader claims that IEBC is doing its bidding for its “Jubilee friends” by planning to add constituencies in the Jubilee strongholds and deny NASA some more in its strongholds.
