Uhuru forces Jubilee leaders to make last minute changes

Presidential order?

According to assertions made by Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter, the legislators requested to conduct another election for the Committee leadership again, days after electing him as chairman and Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga (Nasa) as vice-chairperson.

Keter mentioned that the lawmakers claimed that they were not in their right senses during the polls hence will hold another one at a later date.

The lawmakers purportedly wrote to the National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi making their request.

“They have written to the speaker in their individual capacities requesting that another election be held. But I also request that they be examined medically to determine their mental status,” Mr Keter said.

Speaking to journalists Keter noted: "It could also mean that they were not in their right senses when they contested in the August 8, 2017 elections, something that could put a lot of doubt in the eligibility as members of parliament".

This comes a day after President Kenyatta reportedly summoned Mr Keter, Moiben’s Silas Tiren, Marakwet MP David Bowen and Emgwen's Alex Kosgey to State House after defying an order by the party.

Kenyatta issued the summon after the four legislators defied an order by the Deputy President William Ruto to resign from their respective committees which they had been elected to head.

Tiren  heads the Agriculture Committee, Bowen (Environment and Natural Resources) and Kosgey (Trade, Industry and Cooperatives).

The four were previously de whipped but they went against the party's orders and vied for the positions.
