This follows NASA’ claims that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s decision to post pone the elections in certain areas of the country was influence by ethnic profiling.

IEBC has on Monday declared that it will announce the election results without conducting the elections 4 counties.

IEBC Deputy Chairperson, Consolata Nkatha on Monday explained that the commission was compelled by law to postpone the elections in the said areas.

“The commission was constrained to postpone the fresh Presidential election in those areas to 28 October 2017 in accordance with Section 55B (1) of the Elections act, as read together with regulations 64A of the elections general regulations 2012 as amended.”

She explained that while the postponement is very legal, the law instructs that they be held at the earliest time predicatable.

“Due to sustained and escalating violence that caused a serious breach of peace in the affected areas, the commission was unable to hold elections for a second time.”
