NASA leader Raila Odinga joined other Opposition leaders to mourn Migori Senator Ben Olouch Okello who
Speaking to Ramogi FM, Mr. Odinga remembered Senator Olouch as a brave leader. He noted that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party had lost a key politician.
“Ben was a strong man who battled cancer with bravery. He remained cool despite the throat cancer pain,” he told the radio station.
The former Prime Minister added: "He was focused and one who loved his community with a firm belief in the welfare of electorate. ODM has lost a key member who had yet to exploit his potential."
The senator previously worked at Ramogi radio station as a presenter after he left Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
He died on Monday night at MP Shah hospital in Nairobi after a long battle with throat cancer. His body has since been transferred to Lee Funeral home.
Other ODM leaders including Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris also mourned Oluoch.
“I am saddened to learn of the demise of Migori Senator Ben Oluoch Okello. I pray the Almighty God comforts and gives strength to his family, the people of Migori County and Kenyans at large. May his soul rest in peace,” she tweeted.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino said: "JOWI JOWI JOWI!!! It is with so much shock and heaviness in my heart that I have learnt of the sudden demise of Sen Hon Ben Oluoch Okello. I wish to convey my sincere condolences to his family and the people of Migori. May his soul rest in peace."
