Betty Kyallo's ex-producer Sarah Mwangi goes after Nairobi Woman Rep seat

Kenyan journalist Sarah Mwangi has thrown her hat into the ring and announced that she will be vying for the Nairobi Woman Rep position in the upcoming General Election.

Ms Mwangi said that she had kept her political ambition a secret so she could make the announcement on International Women’s Day.

It’s been a long coming and on this international Womens’ Day, I officially presented my dream to you. As many as shall vote for me say aye,” she said in a post on her social media platforms.

Sarah is Betty Kyallo’s former TV producer and the two worked together for years and became part of the success of her media career.

I started working together with Betty while at KTN. Eddie Kavai and I were the two producers between Friday and Monday and one had to produce for the Friday edition while the other worked for Checkpoint.

Kibisu Mulanda who was my boss by then requested me to take up the Friday edition that was being hosted by Betty. That meant I work on Friday and Saturday,” she said in a past media interview.

When K24 TV approached Betty to host a Weekend with Betty show in 2018, Sarah became a part of the new plan since she was the producer who knew Betty well and had been able to establish a brand out of the content they worked on together.

When Betty left TV to focus on her personal ventures, Sarah founded her own production team which is behind a YouTube show called The Hot Seat.

During the campaigns, she will be going up against incumbent Esther Passaris, Wangui Nga’ang’a and UDA’s Millicent Omanga.

The producer is among the many media personalities who have thrown their hats in the ring to vie for elective positions in Nairobi County.

Musician Roysmith Mwatia alias Rufftone is vying for the Nairobi Senator seat on a UDA ticket and Jalang’o has set his eyes on the Lang’ata MP seat on an ODM ticket.
