Boniface Mwangi shames President Kenyatta over the Patel dam tragedy

President Kenyatta yet to comment on the Solai dam tragedy

Mwangi also took a swipe at President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Jubilee government for soliciting funds to help victims of the Patel dam tragedy when available public funds are used anyhow.

Through his Facebook account, Mwangi took issues with the parliament for increasing their pensions and salaries by 700% with an additional 1.2 Billion going to their salaries.

He noted with concern that the President has kept silent on the issue, not even sending condolences to the families of the 44 who have so far been confirmed dead.

Mwangi noted that Mr. Patel has immense financial resources running into millions that should be used to compensate the victims.

5000 families were left homeless after their homes were swept by raging waters from the dam. Another 40 are still unaccounted for with emergency rescue operations underway.

The tragedy has brought to the surface systemic failures with reports indicating that the dam may have been illegal and had not been inspected by government authorities in the recent past.

Of concern also is the fact that cracks had appeared on the walls of the dam but nothing was done to remedy the situation.
