Why Uhuru did not hold talks with Kalonzo – Jubilee top head reveals

Interesting details come to light

Speaking on NTV’s AM Live show Mr Cheruyoit mentioned that President Kenyatta opted to hold talks with NASA leader Raila Odinga as he foresaw he would bore more fruits that way.

The senator noted that unlike Odinga, the other leaders were not firm enough to make tough choices.

He made reference to the controversial swearing-in ceremony of Odinga as the People’s President which Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula were conspicuously absent.

Cheruyoit stated that since the leaders refused to attend the meeting it was hard for President Kenyatta-led Jubilee party to trust them.

He added that the trio could also not make any decision without consulting with the former Prime Minister hence it was only wise to speak to Mr Odinga.

The lawmaker described the three co-principals as minors who had been delegated power.

"Nasa has only one principal. The others can only be equated to class reps who have been delegated some power,” he said.

Also at the show was Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi who opined that the meeting between Mr Odinga and the Head of State marked the end of NASA.

"The train has left and the driver of that train is Raila Odinga. In the absence of Raila, there is no (Nasa) rally, there is no 'oomph!',” Wamatangi emphasised.

At the same time, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo dismissed claims that the two leaders had made a deal noting that it was simply an agreement to make a deal.

"There was no deal on the steps of Harambee House. There was an agreement to have a deal,” Amollo noted.
