The CS who appeared before the Senate Energy Committee insisted that not a shilling was lost in the Kisumu Oil Jetty scam that is said to have cost Sh 1.8 billion.

"No coin was lost in the Kisumu Oil Jetty project. I, however, leave the court and investigating team to do their job," he told the Senators.

The CS went on to explain that the project was conducted in strict adherence to the laid out protocols for tendering and execution.

He added that the project was commissioned by the President to facilitate transfer of petroleum to East African Commission member states.

The Mining boss explained that KPC had estimated that the project would cost Sh 1.48 billion, however, the government approved Sh 1.9 billion to cover overheads.

"If you add taxes to Sh 1.7 billion, it gives you a range of Sh 1.9 billion. All this was approved by the board and the Treasury," Munyes stated.

Sang has also been labeled as a victim of ethnic discrimination by Rift Valley leaders who claim that the crackdown on corruption is targeting the Kalenjin community.

The suspended MD was arraigned in court on Monday where he denied the corruption charges and was relesed on a Sh 2 million bond.
