Otiende defied ODM to vote against VAT

Onyango responded after Amollo decried over the passage of the controversial proposals introducing 8 percent VAT on fuel products.
“My Conscience is Clear! We said a Resounding No! The Speaker heard a YES! An August House Indeed!..Disgrace!” the Rarieda MP stated.
Onyango did not take the message well and challenged Amollo to go ahead and resign from ODM since the party had taken a position that its members should support the proposals pushed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“I think you should go a step further and resign from the party and seek fresh mandate since your views are no longer consistent with those of the party. That would make you truly honourable,” Odinga’s private secretary said in a tweet on Thursday night.
The soft spoken lawyer who previously represented Odinga in the Presidential petition did not back down and challenged Onyango to write to him formally- promising to resign.
“Dennis, write to me officially and I will,” the legislator hit back.
Amollo was one of the MPs who defied party loyalty and unsuccessfully sought to reject the President’s recommendations.
