DP Ruto’s allies make a hasty U-turn after Uhuru’s angry outburst [Video]

Days after President Uhuru Kenyatta warned Tanga Tanga group of MPs allied to DP Ruto in an angry outburst in which he accused them of undermining the unity of the country by attacking the BBI, the MPs have made a hasty retreat on their hardline stand.

In a strategic change of tact, the MP’s appear to have avoid what was quickly turning out to be an epic clash pitting the President against his deputy and Jubilee party who have been leading in criticizing the BBI report.

The MPs who were initially opposed to the idea of subjecting the BBI through a referendum have now softened their stand and made it clear that they are willing to go that route.

The lawmakers who accompanied DP Ruto in his tour Nyandarua and Tharaka Nithi on Saturday softened their stand that was adopted at a meeting in Embu last Friday, placing the MPs on a collision path with the president.

“Whichever route will be taken, including a referendum as long as issues affecting Kenyans are addressed" said Kithure Kindiki on Saturday.

“We will do whatever Kenyans want us to do, be it increasing elective seats, reducing the burden or a referendum, we will do it as long as Kenyans want it” added Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen.

Response to the angry outburst

The Deputy President on his part maintained that Kenyan are now well informed and will make the right choices.

He asserted that Kenyans are wise and know those who want to divide them with cheap politics as well as those who are working for the citizens.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria appeared to respond to President Kenyatta’s outburst, stating that the answer to their complains is not anger.

"They are always going round telling us who will lead this country. Our people wake up early to vote and they are the ones who will be voted in. I know those people who have the final say and it is not these people you see yapping all over. I know they see me keeping quiet and think this a fool who knows nothing,"
