DP Ruto goes after Raila

Ruto, who was speaking for the first time after Odinga landed in the country, accused the former Prime Minister of being behind the chaos that was witnessed during his arrival.

The DP described Mr. Odinga as the lord of poverty, a term that was first coined by controversial political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi while attacking Odinga.

“The lord of POVERTY & master of VIOLENCE came with his signature chaos, destruction, bloodshed and death. Barbaric, undemocratic and primitive,” the DP tweeted.

The NASA leader on Friday expressed disappointment in the President Uhuru Kenyatta for sending a contingent of armed police officers and security personnel to disperse his supporters during the grand arrival.

The procession was marred with a lot of violence which led to five people being killed. The five were allegedly shot by police officers.

However, police have dismissed reports that officers used excessive force to disperse the mammoth crowd.

In a statement, police said those who were killed were caught stealing, using violence against officers and destroying property.

"We are aware that sections of the mob accompanying the NASA convoy, looted property and five persons were killed stoning in different incidences after having been caught stealing by enraged crowds. Two were stoned along Landies Road. Two next to country bus station and one along Racecourse road.

"Sadly these incidences occurred before the police arrived at the various scenes, All these incidences are under investigations," the statement reads.
