Deputy President William Ruto, on Saturday, 07 March cut short his trip in Kiambu County and left a fund-raising event at Maria Immaculata Church in a hurry.

The DP who was the chief guest at the event that saw him donate Ksh1.5 Million excused himself and told the crowd tat he was in a hurry to attend the burial of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei who worked in the DP’s office until his death.

“I am grateful and happy that I made it to join you for this event. I will however not stay long as I am heading to the burial of one of my officers who passed away. I will return at a later date to join you in prayers” DP Ruto stated.

After leaving the event, the DP headed to Rongai in Nakuru county for the burial and was received by Water CS Simon Chelugui, who is cousin to the deceased.

The DP has been leading the calls for a speedy investigation into the murder of Kipygon Kenei whose death has since painted the DP’s office in bad light in the wake of the fake Sh 40 Billion scandal.

Ruto has, on several occasions clashed with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations which he has accused of taking the matter casually and treating Kenyans to drama.

The body of the deceased was ferried to Nakuru on Friday, March 6, ahead of his burial on Saturday, March 7 in Nakuru County.

Apart from speedy and comprehensive investigations, Kenei’s father, Mr. Chesang also wants the government to reveal the data from the deceased’s phone.

Detectives handling the matter previously told the press that the Kenei’s killers had colluded with an employee of Safaricom to erase crucial data from his phone after his death.
