DP Ruto reveals 2 acts of betrayal and the origin of his rivalry with Raila and Mudavadi[Video]
DP Ruto spills the beans on what he went through in the hands of Raila and Mudavadi
Speaking in at Primary School during the homecoming of Lurambi MP Titus Khamala, Ruto divulged that Mudavadi and Raila conspired against him and renaged on a deal that would have seen him become Prime minister or deputy prime minister.
Ruto revealed that they had “settled on Raila as the automatic President, deputised by Mudavadi and I (Ruto) was to occupy the Prime Minister’s post”.
“However, my two big brothers decided to share my post among themselves, leaving me without anything despite our earlier deal,” he added.
Ruto was referring to the coalition government crafted by Kofi Annan following the 2007-2008 post poll chaos that saw Odinga become the Prime Minister with Mudavadi as his deputy.
The DP divulged that the trail of betrayal continued shortly afterwards as he was bundled to the Hague alongside president Uhuru Kenyatta in relation to the post poll chaos where “both Raila and Mudavadi never bothered to visit and sympathise with me”.
It is at this time that Ruto teamed up with Uhuru and formed a coalition that swept into power in 2013, and won a second term in 2017 in a hotly contested election disputed by the opposition and a repeat poll that was boycotted by Odinga.
Ruto revealed that it was an act of God that he would be elevated above his two former allies turned rivals to become Kenya’s second in command.
“It is God’s mercy that I would later be elevated slightly above both after all those tribulations, when I became Deputy President,” Ruto said.
