Raila set to lose as Ruto holds series of meetings with NASA MPs
In a well calculated move to cement his 2022 presidential bid, the DP is scheduled to meet more MPs from Luo Nyanza region where the DP has little support.
His charm offensive comes at a time when opposition politicians have openly criticized Raila Odinga over the deportation of Miguna Miguna and the handshake with President Kenyatta.
On Wednesday, the DP met all five MPs from Nyamira County and announced that schools in the region would benefit from a Sh 2.1 Billion kitty.
Two weeks ago in yet another meeting, the DP met all 9 MPs from Kisii county and urged them to forget the divisive 2017 elections and work together for development.
His Karen home has also hosted Western Kenya MPs amidst reports that Ruto could work with Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi in 2022.
The DP has also stepped up his tour of the nation in a bid to cast his nets wider and broaden his support base ahead of 2022.
Being a political student to former president Moi, the DP has also employed the same strategy of hosting frequent meetings with leaders at his Karen home.
The DP has however maintained that his tours and meetings have nothing to do with 2022, stating that politicking season is over.
At a recent event, he stated that "our (Jubilee) transformative agenda for the country can’t wait, can’t be postponed and can’t be challenged. We are working to ensure the success of our agenda".
