The 'Nation' article that led to the arrest of David Ndii

Here is why.

Taking the details of the spree on Twitter on Monday, hours after the arrest of National Super Alliance key strategist Dr David Ndii, claimed that he was arrested for his weekly Sunday column on the Daily Nation, which has been critical of Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

“David Ndii to be charged with incitement for his Sunday Nation column — Jubilee tries to ban the Constitutional freedoms of the press, speech, conscience, thought, and expression,” Prof Makau tweeted, hours after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations divulged that Dr Ndii was apprehended for inciting the public violence.

“Dr. David Ndii arrested and currently under interrogation regarding matters touching on the offence of incitement to violence,”  a statement from the tweeter account of Directorate of Criminal Investigations tweeted after a rife of speculations in regard to the whereabouts of one of the Kenya’s top economics minds.

Earlier, Nasa lawyers who are in the company of Dr Ndii, said that he will be charged with incitement to violence, but failed to give more details.

Siaya Senator James Orengo and Rarieda Constituency MP Otiende Amolo said that Dr Ndii was questioned over his opinion, but also failed to disclose which opinion was in context.

“At DCI, waiting on Prof David Ndii who is being held merely for Expressing Political Opinion,” the lawmaker tweeted.

He added: “Hon Orengo, Dr Ndii, Hon Otiende, Dr Oloo and Hon Zulekhia at the Milimani court cells awaiting arraignment of Dr Ndii on incitement charges; we’ve truly gone back to old times!”
