DP Ruto's fresh attack on Raila Odinga

This comes after Raila’s earlier claim that the decision by Education Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiang’i to set the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KSCE) date on Octoer 17 was politically motivated.

He stated Mr Matiangi’s decision was inspired by Jubilee Party who want the October 17 elections completed before the law sorts out issues pending over the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Speaking at a rally on Saturday at Uhuru Park, Mr Ruto claimed that Raila Odinga was being ignorant of the education minsitry’s exam dates because he had never sat for National examinations at either primary or secondary school level.

He said, “Kwa sababu yeye hajafanya mtihani wa shule ya msingi na hajafanya mtihani wa shule ya upili, ndio hajui maana ya mtihani ile watoto wetu watafanya mwisho wa mwaka huu.”

(He does not know the importance of the exams our children are about to do this year because he has not done examinations in Primary level and has also not done examinations at Secondary level.)

The Deputy President went on to challenge Raila stating that if at all he was lying, then Raila should show the people his school certificates as proof.

He said, “Na kama sisemi ukweli nataka bwana vitendawili atuonyeshe certificate yake ya primary school na certificate yae ya secondary school..”

(…And if I am lying then I call out the man of proverbs to show us his primary and secondary school certificates as proof.)

Raila Odinga is believed to have attended Kisumu Union Primary school, Maranda Primary and Maranga High School back in 1962.

He also claims spending two years at the Herder Institut before receiving a scholarship in 1965 that saw him join Technical School of Otto-von-Guericke University where he graduated in 1970 with a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
