Fireworks as Siaya Senator James Orengo reveals plans to impeach DP Ruto in 2 weeks

Details have emerged of plans to impeach Deputy President William Ruto in 2 weeks in the wake of the murder of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei and Echesa’s Sh40Billion fake arms scam that roped in DP Ruto’s office.

Speaking in Siaya, a team of ODM legislators led by Siaya Senator James Orengo stated that they would find constitutional means to deal with the DP, hinting that the impeachment would materialize in two weeks.

"Watch this space. In two weeks' time, we will start the process that will see us deal with him," Orengo stated.

He maintained that the numerous scandals linked to DP Ruto’s office has brought a lot of dishonour to the office of the Deputy President where crooks meet to plot and excecute criminal activities.

The Senate minority leader also took issues with DP Ruto’s reaction to the recent scandals, noting that it meets the threshold for investigations to be launched.

"The DP is exhibiting a degree of ignorance by making careless utterances and comments on the probe which is unbelievable. It seems like the DP occupied his office without fully understanding the provisions of the law.

"I hope he is being investigated because what we have on record now is sufficient ground to institute investigations against him." Orenga affirmed.

The DP on the other hand has maintained that the scandals and investigations linked to his office are part of a wider scheme to bring him down.

Taking to Twitter in an angry rant after attending the burial of Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei in Nakuru, Ruto alleged a scheme to eliminate soon, stating that the only option available for the individuals who he refered to as “the system” was to kill.

He also took his war with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to a new level, alleging that the DCI was working with individuals keen on destroying him in an alliance to discredit and destroy his office.

“The DCI has been mobilised,for political reasons,to discredit & destroy my office with all manner NONSENSE and to bring me down. Those in this scheme are boasting that I will not be there soon. Since the system cannot elect anybody, they can only kill. But there is GOD in heaven.” Wrote DP Ruto.

Orengo has been consistent in leading calls to impeach the DP.

On 24 March 2019, Orengo made similar remarks calling for the impeachment of the DP in the wak of multi-billion scandals in which ropped in individuals perceived to be close to DP Ruto, among the former CS Henry Rotich.
