Government forced to explain Matiang'i whereabouts after newspaper report
A Standard editor of the Palaver section, noted that Matiang'i had been conspicuously missing since a peace deal was reached between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.
However, Interior Ministry Spokesman Mwenda Njoka clarified that there was nothing amiss in Matiangi's absence from the public limelight.
According to Njoka, the Interior CS had been on a official tour of the US and only returned to Kenya on Monday.
"To the Editor of Standard Newspaper’s Palaver: Please do your homework before rushing to publish Sir. Interior CS Dr. Matiang’i has not “run of out steam” nor is he “missing in action.” He has been on an official tour of US and just got back home yesterday. ," Njoka stated.
The Interior Ministry spokesman added that despite the long and tiring journey from DC, Matiang'i would today (Tuesday) hold several public functions in Murang'a and Kiambu
