Mr Odhiambo allegedly attacked the after the latter posted fake news about him on Facebook.
The legislator was seen attacking a man identified as Maurice Otieno who was seated among his friends while asking him "why did you post [that] I was arrested?".
In turn, Maurice was pleading with the legislator to stop beating him because he had already deleted the post stating: "But I've deleted the post mjumbe. Is there a problem Elisha?"
Maurice had alerted his Facebook friends that the Gem MP was being sought by EACC officers over an alleged probe into CDF money for the constituency.
I pulled the post down - Maurice Otieno on Gem MP Facebook post
Speaking to reporters, Maurice defended himself saying that he had spoken with the MP before the incident and had already pulled down the post.
"In the course of the day I had received numerous calls on the post and I even had to speak to Mheshimiwa myself [to confirm the reports]. I pulled the post down," he stated.
The Gem MP explained that the post was defamatory against him because he had not been summoned by the anti-corruption officers.
It is possible that Maurice had mistaken MP Odhiambo for his Bobasi counterpart Innocent Obiri who was grilled at the Kisumu EACC offices on Tuesday after detectives raided his homes at 6:30 a. m. the same day.
MP Obiri's homes and those of Kisumu County Assembly speaker Onyango Oloo were raided by the anti-corruption sleuths as part of investigations into misappropriation of funds in a Sh4.2 billion Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) construction project. Both politicians were arrested.
