Governor Waititu decided to go old school in a bid to root out ghost workers in Kiambu County.

Governor Ferdinand Waititu unveiled the verification exercise which he stated was aimed at identifying the exact number of employees in the county.
Waititu remarked that the exercise was also geared towards fulfilling his government's promise of reducing the county's wage bill.
The exercise which kicked off in Thika was announced via the governor's official Facebook page.
He pointed out that his office had received reports of ghost workers who have been receiving salaries although they were out of service.
According to Governor Waititu, the exercise was necessary as it will help in developing a skill inventory and reconcile personnel records.
In Thika, the employees converged at the Thika Sub-county offices where the county’s human resource officials from the monitoring and evaluation department conducted the count.
Waititu stated that all the county employees in twelve sub-counties must participate in the exercise which will be carried out periodically.
