A tragic road accident along the Sondu-Oyugis Road has claimed the life of a man who was attached to the Homa Bay County administration.

Enock Opiyo died on the spot after his car rammed head-on to a public service vehicle at Chabera Trading Centre.

Atela Location Chief Peres Muga confirmed the Sunday night incident adding that Kopiyo died right in front of the gate to his residence.

The vehicles were towed to a nearby police station as investigations begin.

Tragic incidents over the past weeks

The accident came just days after another accident in Nyamira County claimed the life of another county official.

The official identified as Enoch Omwenga, an employee at the county assembly Human Resource Department, was driving a saloon car that lost control while going over a bump.

All four passengers who were traveling with him lost their lives.

Last week, a group of youngsters also lost their lives in a fatal drag racing accident in Arusha, Tanzania.

The bodies of the four racers were airlifted to Nairobi late last week as families prepare to bury them.
