Chebukati's warning to IEBC commissioners ahead of Monday's crisis talks
There was confusion after 2 commissioners who had "resigned" stormed IEBC offices last Friday.
In a statement to the media, Chebukati insisted that the three commissioners former vice-chairperson Consolata Maina, Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya resigned after they jointly issued a public statement of their resignation on April 16.
"Instead, under the leadership, the Commission boardroom has become a venue for peddling misinformation, grounds for brewing mistrust, and a space for scrambling for and chasing individual glory and credit," the commissioners said in a statement.
The tough stance comes hours ahead of a showdown on Monday expected to chair a crisis meeting today.
The IEBC Chairman confirmed that the three filed and submitted their clearance forms and returned all the assets were cleared by the secretariat.
There was confusion on Friday last week after Ms Maina and Ms Mwachanya stormed the commission’s offices, saying they are effectively still in office despite having announced their resignations in a press conference.
Chebukati refused to see the two, describing them as strangers whom he could only meet on appointment.
