On his part, Dr Matiang'i was impressed with how senators conducted the meeting and appreciated their cooperation.

"They have been forthcoming, forthright and very candid about the challenges we face. They have pointed out to us the things we need to do together to move the implementation of government projects forward," CS Matiang'i noted.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho also appeared before the Senate Devolution Committee to clarify on why he threatened to dissolve the Mombasa County Assembly.

He noted: "I can tell you that we are not in a position to respond to hearsay. The assembly should have brought evidence to you."
