I can't comment on whether I have been kicked out of State House - Itumbi

State House Director of Digital Innovations and Diaspora Communications Dennis Itumbi has spoken on early Monday reports that the entire Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (PSCU) had been kicked out of State House.

Mr Itumbi told in a phone interview that the team is still operating at State House, even after reports indicated that the PSCU team is operating from DP Ruto’s Harambee House Annex Building along Harambee Avenue.

“If there is any change, obviously you will see it on my page. I can’t comment on whether we have been chased out as you say. That’s just a rumor which the source can explain better,” Itumbi said on phone.

Earlier, there were reports that the PSCU team, apart from State House Spokesperson Mr Manoah Esipisu, were on Monday morning ordered to vacate State House by Chief of Staff and Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit Mr Nzioka Waita.

A section of the media quoted sources which claimed that some of the directors, Munyori Buku (public communications), Eric Ng’eno (messaging), Dennis Itumbi (digital communications and diaspora), James Kinyua (branding and events) and Munira Mohammed, as already operating from DP Ruto’s office.

In an alleged notice to vacate State House, Mr Waita was unhappy with the team, which has previously been accused of censuring, lack of discipline and protocol breaches. He has accused them of sometimes embarrassing the presidency.

Itumbi and other officials were reportedly suspended in 2016 and later reinstated following appeals to President Uhuru.
