Senate Speaker Lusaka makes final ruling on Wetangula

It is official

Mr. Lusaka approved the appointment of Siaya Senator James Orengo as Wetangula’s replacement.

The ODM Party congratulated the Senior Counsel on his new role stating: “Hold the fort for the movement, and make our voices count. ”.

The removal of Wetangula attracted controversy as minutes after 19 ODM Senators voted him out, NASA CEO Norman Magaya divulged that the Alliance was against the ouster.

According to Mr. Magaya NASA wrote a letter to Speaker Lusaka and communicated its stand.

“NASA CEO  (Norman Magaya) sent a letter to the Speaker on the Communication of the SUMMIT on the status of the position of the Leader of Minority in the Senate.

"The Communication is that  is still the holder of the position. Mr. Magaya says that is the position," ODM Communication Director Philip Etale said in a tweet.

However Mr Lusaka revoked the letter by NASA and ratified the removal of Wetangula.

Last week, the Ford Kenya Party leader was an embattled man after Minority Whip and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr introduced the motion of his removal through a letter as per the House rule.

Mr. Kilonzo presented the letter following a Parliamentary group meeting attended by 16 senators affiliated to the ODM Party.

The ODM Senators have accused Mr. Wetangula incompetence and extremely condescending to coalition partners and colleagues.
