Jubilee Party leaders react to Raila Odinga’s swearing in ceremony invitation

Jubilee party leaders have reacted to NASA's invitation to the swearing in ceremony of Raila Odinga.

Led by the Senate Deputy Speaker, Kithure Kindiki, the leaders dismissed the plans stating that the political chapter had been closed and the planned swearing in would amount to nothing.

Expressing his doubts on the planned event, Kindiki stated that "I do not think somebody the former prime minister's stature can engage in a treasonable offence.  I will be very surprised."

The Tharaka Nithi Senator made it clear that the event is not backed by law and would only soil Odinga’s image.

The legislator stated that following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s swearing in that was witnessed by the Chief Justice, any other similar event would be a violation of the constitution.

He added that "Raila has been in politics for a very long time. He is one person who campaigned hard for new constitution. He will end up very badly if he violates the same."

Separately, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria made fun and scoffed at the plans by NASA to swear in Raila Odinga on 12 December.

Last Friday, NASA sent out invitations to the event whose venue is yet to be disclosed, drawing mixed reactions among Kenyans.
