Mutua took to his Twitter account where he castigated Third Way Alliance Party Leader Ekuru Aukot.
The veteran lawyer took issue with Aukot’s self-appointment as the Leader of Opposition after he claimed NASA leader Raila Odinga had absconded the duty.
“Today we take our role as the official opposition and to President congratulations ,we shall put your government into check,” Aukot tweeted.
The comment did not go well with Mutua who fired back through his twitter account, “Dr. Ekuru Aukot wants to be Leader of Opposition without even a SINGLE MCA. 15 minutes of fame are truly dangerous”.
The Third Way Alliance Party leader would later rephrase Mutua’s tweet and come back with a rebuttal of his own.
“Prof. Makau Mutua wants to be a REBEL leader without even a SINGLE military training .15 minutes of fame are truly dangerous,” the former presidential candidate remarked.
Aukot, who is also a lawyer, emerged third in the repeat Presidential election with 21,333 votes. Odinga was second with 73,228 votes while President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared winner with 7,483,895 votes.
