Matiang’i breathes fire after criminals commit daring robbery outside his event

Daring thugs

Matiang’i reacted with anger after some of the criminals conducted a daring raid a few kilometres from where he had gone to hold meetings with local leaders.

The armed thugs raided Kamalogon on the border of the two counties, killing one person, injuring another and stealing more than 500 animals.

A similar raid had been carried out hours before the Interior CS visited the conflict-prone area.

When he rose to speak, the tough talking CS criticised security agencies for failing to manage the rising levels of violent crime committed by cattle rustlers.

“You are a big letdown to the appointing authority. You are expected to restore law and order and stamp the Government’s authority in discharging its constitutional mandate of protecting lives.”

“I see young children sitting down here. It is a pity that they are not in school because insecurity has caused the institutions to be closed. We have directed all schools beginning today (Monday), be provided with armed security to ensure learning resumes and continues uninterrupted,” Matiang’i stated.

He also appointed a special deputy county commissioner to manager the security situation in the three border counties.
